Day Camps

Photography Workshop

This workshop was planned in two sessions: beginner in the morning and advanced in the afternoon. The beginner session covers composition and fair prep. The advanced session covers photography settings and allows 4-H'er to hands on with DSLR cameras and other photography equipment. This work shop has been held every year since 2017.

Cloverbud Camp

This camp was planned in partnership with Wadena County. Two sessions were held, one in each county. This camp was design to include a craft from three different project areas and could be entered in the county fair. The three crafts were a toilet paper roll bird feeder, tie dye t-shirt, and homemade ice cream.

Robotics Camp

This camp was held in two session: on 3rd - 5th grade session and one 6th and up session. The 3rd - 5th grade session used a robotic kit using an aluminum can. The 6th and up session used a robotic kit that could be coded using a computer.

Rocket Camp

This camp was planned with the assistance of a local high school science teacher and allowed youth to choose between 3 rockets. 4-H'ers had the opportunity to build their chosen rocket and custom paint it. On the last day of camp the youth got to launch their rockets.

Homesteading Camps

This camp took place over three weeks (one session a week) and was design to introduce youth to skills needed to manage a homestead and become self-sufficient. With the help of knowledgeable volunteers youth learned about new topics each week. During the first session, poultry care, swine care, and gardening were covered. In the second session, we made bread, freezer jam, and butter. On the last session, we covered cheese making, cattle care, and equine care. We also incubated chicken eggs during the camp and candled the eggs each week. 

Barn Quilt Camp

This camp was held in August, 2020,during the Covid 19 pandemic, and was designed to provide an opportunity for youth to be creative and social with other youth in a safe and environment. Youth were spaced out in an outdoor environment and provided individual supplies to create their barn quilt.
